Important:

Please note that the accumulator (whether supplied separately or as part of the assembly) is supplied pre-charged with compressed nitrogen as standard and is classified as dangerous goods for transport purposes.

The Prestolite battery must NOT be transported by air freight (or air freight courier, DHL etc.) while charged as it does not meet the IATA pressure test requirements. With the appropriate labeling/documentation, it is possible to ship by road or sea freight subject to charges.

In order to ship air cargo, nitrogen must be delivered unloaded so that it can be recharged at the destination.

The battery requires a nitrogen pre-charge of 193-200 bar. It has a 1/4 BSP Schrader valve charge port and has a volume of 1.5 litres.

Hazardous Classification: UN3164, Articles under pressure, Class 2.2.

Please make sure you can discharge charge before ordering.

Info: The Prestolite hydraulic starter system allows use for diesel engines, which are mainly used in safety-critical applications.

This system is typically used as part of a dual starter system (as a backup to the standard electric starter motor) but can also be used as the sole means of starting the engine.

Two sizes of the starter unit (B35G8 and B50G53) usually cover engines with a bore diameter of 70 to 160 mm, regardless of the number of cylinders.

The system has a long history, the basic efficient and reliable design has remained largely unchanged. Originally developed in France by Demarreur Hydraulique Berger and later manufactured by Bryce Berger and Lucas Bryce & Lucas Marine in the UK, the system was adopted by Prestolite Electric after acquiring the Lucas starter motor and alternator business in the late 1990s.
